I love to get card design inspiration from the flowers in my garden. At this time of year there are a lot of golds, yellows and dark pink flowers. I can easily find a Stampin’ Up ink colour that matches every flower I find! For the cards I am showing today, I have focused on using the Pressed Petals Specialty Designer Series Paper (#149500). It really does reflect what I have growing in my gardens right now!
This wonderfully earthy paper coordinates with the colours crumb cake, daffodil delight, merry merlot, night of navy, pear pizzazz. rococo rose, soft suede and very vanilla. These make up a beautiful palette of fall garden colours. In this designer series pack you receive 24 sheets- 4 each of 6 designs- double sided. I particularly love the burlap and wood look sheets, as well as the papers that have ready made borders and card fronts. This paper is a must have if you love flowers! You will see on most of the cards I have used a piece of the designer series paper to decorate the back of the envelope. This adds a real wow to your cards- I have a video showing how to do this in an earlier post.
I am featuring many of the products from the Pressed Petal Suite- check out the video below for all the products featured in this suite.:
Here are a two of the cards I have designed that were inspired by my gardens!
This first cards features a cute daisy from my garden. I love how it is coloured just on the tips of the petals. I tried to recreate this look using a sponge and just sponging the tips of the petals using Rich Razzleberry ink. I cut out the daisies using the medium daisy punch (#149517) The leaves and stem are stamped using the Daisy Lane Stamp Set (#149325) and old olive and pear pizzazz ink. The card base is thick whisper white cardstock- then a layer of Rich Razzleberry followed by a layer of whisper white. I used Linen thread (104199) to wrap around the top two layers and added a bow. The envelope is covered with a romantic script sheet of paper from the Pressed Petals Specialty Designer Series Paper (#149500).
The second card features the same Pressed Petal paper- using a floral pattern as well as the burlap pattern. It really looks like it has texture! This is a Z-fold card and really showcases both of the the beautiful papers. The flowers are made using the Pressed Petals Specialty Washi Tape (#149585)– each petal comes off the roll one at a time- it it so clever!
I tried to make a bud using the 3 of the petals and the Leaf punch (#144667). I had to use one leaf as the base and trim the others to wrap around it- I think it turned out pretty good!
The sentiment is from the stamp set Kindness & Compassion (#151342). I just love all the fonts and sayings in this set. The card base is made using soft suede cardstock and the flower centres are the Perennial Essence Floral Centres (#149442). They are fun to use and add a real wow to your cards!
I hope you look to your garden- or a neighbours garden and get inspired to make some floral cards!
